Everything in one app

Three apps' worth of peace of mind, in one.

Most families end up juggling a locator, a driving app, and Screen Time. RootLock is all three, with one login, one bill, and one place to look.

Know they're safe

A live map of everyone who matters, updated in real time — plus the alerts that mean you don't have to keep checking it.

  • Live family map. Everyone in one view, updated as they move.
  • Places that tell you. Save Home, School, and Work and get an alert the moment someone arrives or leaves.
  • Battery levels at a glance. A dead phone never becomes a mystery.
  • Check-ins and SOS. One tap sends "I'm safe" — or an emergency alert with location to every parent.

Every drive, covered

Drives are detected automatically — nobody has to press start. When they get home, the whole trip is already waiting for you.

  • Automatic detection. No buttons to press, no trips forgotten.
  • The full picture. Route, distance, duration, and top speed for every trip.
  • Events pinned on the map. Hard braking, rapid acceleration, speeding, and phone use — exactly where they happened.
  • A score worth talking about. Every drive is rated, so "you're driving fine" becomes a real conversation.

Real parental controls

Not a suggestion, not a report you read later. RootLock blocks on your child's device, from your phone, and tells you the second someone pushes back.

  • Block apps, categories, and websites on your child's device — remotely.
  • Two levels of web filtering. Block adult content, or lock down to only the sites you allow.
  • Downtime schedules. Block everything but the essentials at bedtime or school hours.
  • Tamper alerts. If they try to open something blocked, you know in seconds.
  • One-tap approvals. Allow 15 minutes or an hour — for one app or all of them — right from the notification.
  • A parent passcode gates signing out, so protection can't be quietly removed.

Built for two parents

Safety shouldn't live on one person's phone. Invite a co-parent with the same controls you have — and let every adult decide what they share.

  • Equal co-parent access. Both of you get the alerts and both of you can manage limits.
  • Adults choose what they share. Location, activity, and emergency alerts are each your call.
  • One subscription, everyone covered. Adding a co-parent or another child costs nothing extra.

Set up in minutes

Three steps, then it just runs.

No hardware, no router settings, no separate account for your kid to remember.

1

Download and start your family

Sign in with Apple on your own iPhone and tap "Set up my family." You're the parent — nothing else to configure yet.

2

Add everyone with a code

RootLock gives you an 8-character pairing code. Your child opens RootLock on their device and types it in — that's their sign-in. Co-parents get an invite of their own.

3

Turn on what you need

Choose the apps and sites to block, set a downtime schedule, save your places. From then on the map, the drives, and the alerts come to you.

Apple's own framework

Blocking runs on Apple's Family Controls and enforces on your child's device — the same engine behind Screen Time, with a parent-friendly front end.

We can't read your blocklist

App and website selections are opaque tokens handled by iOS. Our servers never see which apps your family blocks.

Consent, not surveillance

Location sharing requires each member's consent and device permission, and every adult controls exactly what they share.

Pricing

One plan. The whole family.

Every feature is included on both plans. There is no per-child fee, no premium tier, and no upsell inside the app.

Questions

The things parents ask us first.

Does my child need their own iPhone?

For location sharing and parental controls on your child, yes — RootLock installs on their device and enforces there. You can set up your family, save places, and explore everything else on your own phone first.

Which devices does RootLock work on?

RootLock is an iPhone and iPad app and requires iOS 18.6 or later. There is no Android version today.

Can my child just turn it off?

Signing out requires the parent passcode you set during setup, and blocking is enforced by iOS rather than by an app your child can quietly close. If they try to open something that's blocked, you get an alert within seconds.

Do you sell our location data?

No. RootLock has no ads and does not sell or share your family's data. Location is only ever visible inside your own family. See the privacy policy for the full detail.

Can you see which apps we block?

No. App and website selections are opaque tokens created by iOS. They're meaningless outside your child's device, so our servers can't tell what's on your list.

How many people does one subscription cover?

One subscription covers every parent and child in your family. There's no per-person charge and no upgrade to unlock a feature.

How does my child sign in if they're under 13?

They don't need an Apple ID. You generate an 8-character pairing code in the Family tab and they enter it on their device — the code you issue is what grants access, which is how RootLock handles verifiable parental consent.

What happens after the free trial?

The 14-day trial converts to whichever plan you picked unless you cancel first. You can cancel from your Apple account settings at any point during the trial and you won't be charged.

A note on safety. RootLock's protection features are built on Apple's Family Controls framework and enforce on your child's own device. Location sharing requires each member's consent and device permission. RootLock is not a substitute for supervision or emergency services — in an emergency, always call 911.

Start with the free trial.

Set up your family tonight, and by tomorrow morning you'll know they made it to school — without sending a single "where are you?" text.
